Hello, I'm Aroosha.
This is my journey with MASH: the diagnosis, the fear, and why I refuse to be silent about it.
A silent disease I never knew I had.
I taught at the university, and I always told my students I don't understand the phrase "I can't," because mindset is everything. But nothing tested that belief like the day a doctor lowered his head and told me I had MASH, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
In that moment, all I could picture was my father, lying in a hospital bed after his liver transplant, his hands tied down so he wouldn't disturb his incision. His cirrhosis had progressed quietly for years, undetected until a routine surgery revealed it. Now I was facing stage 3 liver fibrosis, and I was terrified I would follow in his footsteps.
I focus on progress, not perfection.
Turning a private battle into a shared mission.
But my story isn't one of fear. It's one of action, faith, and taking charge. From the questions I learned to ask my doctors (my husband brings his own list, and my doctor jokes they're too hard), to the lifestyle changes that helped me lose more than 60 pounds and improve my liver enzymes, to why I believe getting tested saved me from silently sliding toward cirrhosis, there is so much more I want to share.
